Rose Room FAQ

What is the Rose Room?

The Rose Room is a beautiful, renovated ballroom in the heart of downtown Boise. The physical address is 718 W. Idaho, upstairs in the Union Block Building. On either side of the room are large windows edged with white lights. There is a wonderful maple bar, hardwood floors (for your dancing pleasure) and a huge skylight in the soaring ceiling. The Rose Room has a stage perfect for bands or DJ's, and a support kitchen for your caterer.

What do you supply, besides the room?

As well as the most beautiful room around, we supply 200 white wooden folding chairs, 36-5' round tables (they sit 8 people per table), three 6' and three 8' banquet tables. These are used for food, gifts, sign-in etc. We have several white lattice screens that you are welcome to use. Around all the windows are white lights, which add great ambiance to your event. For business meetings we have a podium and a P.A. system available at no additional charge.

Who provides the food?

You may choose from our excellent, professional caterers who offer a varied menu and price ranges to fit any budget.

A Lively Chef (Gary) — 389-9600
Rebecca's (Rebecca) — 549-1655
Big Sky Catering (Lisa) — 375-0937
The Pantry ( Don) — 344-5486
The Porterhouse ( Caralee) — 208-863-4684

What about the bar? Can I bring my own beverages?

Jo's Traveling Bar manages the bar, and they provide everything you'll need for a successful event. They can do hosted, non-hosted or combination. They not only have the necessary liability and licensing, but they have professional bartenders that know what they are doing! You cannot bring your own alcoholic beverages to the Rose Room.

What about events other than weddings and business functions?

Other types of events such as concerts, dances, functions for the under 18 crowd need to be reviewed on an individual basis. A tape or CD of a proposed band will help with this determination.

What is the cost to rent the Rose Room?

  • Friday and Saturday: Available for the day/night combo only. (10 a.m. until 1 a.m.)
    • Saturday: The rate is $1,200
    • Friday: The rate is $900
  • Sunday through Thursday can be rented in a couple of ways:
    • The DAY rate: (10 a.m. till 5 p.m.) is $600
    • The EVENING rate: (5 p.m. until 1 a.m.) is $600
    • The DAY/EVENING COMBO rate: (10 a.m. till 1 a.m.) is $800

Why can't I rent just Friday or Saturday night?

We tried that. Most of our weekends are rented for weddings or large parties, so the caterers need to get in and set-up before the 5 o'clock start time. "The cake people need to deliver the cake around 3," "The decorator has to have access by 10 a.m.," "The DJ wants to run a sound test at 4..." I think you get the drift.

How much is the deposit?

50% is due when you send your signed agreement back. That holds your date. The balance is due 30 days before the event.

What if we cancel our event, do we get our deposit back?

Although the agreement states that the deposit is non-refundable; we are happy to refund deposits IF we can fill the date that was canceled (Less a $250.00 administrative fee). We refund the deposit AFTER the date in question. We make every attempt to re-rent dates that have been canceled. The deposit becomes non-refundable 30 days prior to the event.

Can we get married there too?

Absolutely. Depending on the number of guest you'll have, we have various suggestions for the best set-up. More and more couples are saving money and transportation hassles by doing everything at one place.

If I'm getting married in the Rose Room can I have a rehearsal?

Yes, but most likely not the evening before the big day. Usually evenings are rented for the other events. You can rehearse during the day of your wedding, or during the day a few days before your event, based of course, on availability.

Is there a place for the bride to change or get ready before the wedding?

We have just completed our Bride's Room. The room has full-length mirrors, vanity with make-up lighting, restroom facilities, and sound system. A perfect Bride's Room!

Can I decorate?

Yes, you can decorate the room. We ask that you do not use tacks, nails, or anything else that will leave a permanent mark in the room. That goes for tape on the walls too. The back wall is fabric so you can tack into that. Otherwise use the white lattice screens that are supplied to display/decorate on. Helium balloons are not allowed in the Rose Room.

Who unlocks the building and locks up after the event?

The building is unlocked during business hours so your support people can make deliveries, or people can set-up during the day. Before your event, the caterer will be on site. After the event the bartenders will lock up and make sure the room is secure. If your event does not include a bar, your caterer will secure the building. You just enjoy yourself. Although there are people in and out during the day, we do not advise leaving anything valuable in the room unsupervised. The room is simply not that secure and we cannot be responsible for any loss.

Do you allow candles in the room?

Candles are welcome as long as they are in votive holders or enclosed in 'bubble balls' or hurricane covers. No exceptions.

Who supplies linens for the tables?

The caterer you choose will supply them. They will need an accurate count of how many tables you are using before your event.

Who sets up the tables and chairs for my event?

Your caterer will set up. Our cleaning person will take down the tables and chairs when he cleans after your event.

How do I decide how to set up for the event?

We would be happy to meet with you and and help you, or you and your caterer can meet and discuss it. A layout of the Rose Room is included with your packet with your agreement to help you with this.

Who cleans up the room after our event?

Your caterers will clean up all items associated with the food. Jo's Traveling Bar will clean up all items associated with the bar. They will take out the garbage and plates, etc. immediately after your event. Chances are there is another special event the next day, so it is important to honor the official ending time of your event. Any items that you have brought into the room i.e.; decorations, photos, business meeting materials, etc. MUST be taken out when you leave. We are not responsible for any items left after your event.

Where do people park?

There is a parking garage directly across the street from the Rose Room. They have elevators, so your guest are an elevator ride and a short walk away from your party. You can provide parking validation for your guests should you desire. We can fill you in on the details if your interested. Allow 3 weeks for this service!

Will someone from the Rose Room staff be on location during my event?

No, we trust our caterers and our bar manager to handle any questions you may have.

We are a non-profit organization. Do you give a price break?

For bona-fide non-profit organizations we do give a percentage off the rate depending on availability of the room.
