Union Block / Rose Room History

In the good old days.
The Rose Room crowns the Union Block, one of the most impressive structures in Idaho. Built in 1901 of local sandstone, the Union Block features five arches, skylights, and arcaded second-story windows arranged in elegant Romanesque style.
Designed by Victorian Idaho's premiere architectural firm, John E. Tourtellotte & Company, later Tourtellotte & Hummel, the Union Block was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
In 1997, the Idaho Historic Preservation Council gave the Union Block restoration an Orchid Award and honored developer Ken Howell, of Parklane Management Company, with the Distinguished Preservationist Award.

The Union Block today
The Rose Room is located on the top floor of the Union Block. The Rose Room's windows are those above the Old Chicago Bar.
