The Village Apartments, formerly known as Sergeant City, were constructed between 1940 and 1941 at the intersection of Overland and Latah. Initially designed as living quarters for non-commissioned officers stationed at the nearby Gowen Field air base, the complex was funded by the Federal Works Agency.
Many of the original buildings remain in use today.
